Will my internship be paid?
We dedicate ourselves to professional development in an international setting. Whether internships are paid depends on each specific placement and duration. International internships tend to be unpaid, but they're an irreplaceable way to build your resume. Check out available scholarships to help finance your stay, and speak with your school if you'd like academic credit. In many destinations, immigration law prevents paid internships on the applicable visa; even where paid work is allowed, a host may not offer compensation.

Airfare, insurance, visa costs, daily food, transportation and entertainment expenses are not included. Most universities purchase insurance for students on overseas internships — check with your career office. For visa details, see our Price & Visa page.
Is attendance at your events mandatory?
All events and activities we organise are optional, but you are expected to treat the internship itself very responsibly.
May the host company be changed during the internship?
If the internship differs from your expectations, contact us so we can communicate with the host and find a solution. If no satisfactory agreement is possible, we'll find another internship as soon as feasible, given the concern is valid and the change is workable.
Where and when will the language classes take place?
Language classes take place in the host country during your internship, scheduled around your working timetable. The fee is not included in the program fee.
Can I go earlier or stay behind?
You're welcome to go early or stay longer for travelling if permitted by your visa or visa-free conditions. We're happy to arrange longer accommodation upon request.
Can I intern for periods other than stated?
Yes, you can customise your internship date on the application form.
For program January, the minimum duration of the internship is 4 weeks.
For program June - August, the minimum duration of an internship is 6 weeks. You are welcome to have a longer internship than 6 weeks. However, any change in the program dates should be raised and approved by us in advance of enrolment as it will affect what potential offer we can provide.
What hours should I expect to intern?
Oversea internships are ususally to be full-time, for example 30-40 hours per week. However, your host organization ultimately determines your hours and exact daily schedule.
Can I get academic credit for my internship program?
That's possible — check with your academic advisor on their requirements.
What will be the medium of communication in the workplace?
If you do not know the native language, you are not expected to communicate in it.
Are the advanced activities included in the program fee?
No — they're optional add-ons at extra cost, priced as low as possible. Prices are announced once you secure your offer.
Why do I have to pay a $5,000 internship deposit?
The HKD $5,000 deposit is a core part of the matching process and counts towards the program fee — it is not an extra fee. It represents your commitment to the program, letting Bloom of Youth confidently approach organisations on your behalf to find the best match.
Is my job part time or full time?
It depends — it could be part time or full time.
Do I have a chance to reject an offer?
Invitation of interview is counted as potential offer. Yes, you will have at maximum 2 chances to reject an offer/potential offer. Every offer released will be within your three industry preferences. You are however reminded that there is not an unlimited number of internships open to you, and once rejected it’s not possible to reopen the rejected offer if nothing better comes up. We strongly advise you to decide carefully before rejecting an offer.
I will not fly to the interning country. Will you still arrange airport pick-up?
If you land in your interning city we'll arrange pick-up from airport to accommodation. If you land in another city or country there is no pick-up service or refund. Alternatively, if you arrive by train we can arrange pick-up from the station.
Will I be given more than one offer at a time?
Invitation of interview is counted as potential offer. The program runs on a rolling basis. You will have to reject an offer/ potential offer before getting another offer, while you have at maximum 2 chances to reject offers.

Passion and determination matter most, though relevant prior experience may improve chances at larger organisations.
Is there a minimum requirement for GPA or English level?

Process
How many stages are there?
Please visit our How it works page for the full stage-by-stage journey.
How long does it take to organise a placement and find accommodation?
Usually at least 6 weeks to guarantee your perfect internship. Programs are highly competitive — early applications get priority for the most competitive roles, and don't forget special visas can add time.
When is the deadline to apply?
For program January 2027, the deadline is on 23 October 2026 (Friday).
The Early Bird Deadline (with HKD$2000 discount) is on 30 November 2026 (Monday).
For program June – August 2027, the final deadline is on 22 January 2027 (Friday).
For periods other than stated above, you are advised to apply 3 - 6 months in advance to reserve sufficient preparation time.
Early application is mutually beneficial: you can enjoy early bird discount, confirm the schedule, get the best possible role and book flights early and we have sufficient time to perfect your program.
When will I know which company I work for?
After acceptance into the program, we release the offer within 3 months.
Can I access the full list of employers or choose a specific company?
We do not publish a full partner list. Our partners are constantly growing and evolving via dedicated outreach teams in every destination. We don't offer pick-and-choose access as it creates unrealistic expectations — placements consider partner needs, your background and timing. Acceptance guarantees a great role in your area of interest, but not a specific company.
When should I book my flights?
Book flights as soon as your role is confirmed and visa is secured (if applicable). Your program organiser will keep you posted.
What happens when I arrive in the country?
You'll be picked up by our trusted driver on arrival.
Financing
How much does the program cost?
Please visit our Pricing page for the full HKD/USD breakdown by country.
Can I get a scholarship or grant?
Yes! Check with your university career office, the Education Bureau or Regional Councils. Many scholarships are available — don't let budget hold you back.
Accommodation
Can I live at home or a relative's house and take housing out of the cost?
Our all-inclusive programs are designed to help you adapt quickly and safely — employers, universities and parents depend on this service for safety. Indicate particular needs in your application.
How much travel time between work and home?
We minimise your commute. Average is around one hour but can vary with rush hour and other factors.
What if my accommodation doesn't match my expectations?
Notify Bloom of Youth within 36 hours of the start of your first day in that accommodation so we can remedy or arrange alternatives. Complaints after 36 hours are handled at our discretion.
Can I choose shared accommodation, partner host or student residence?
The type of accommodation is not open to student choice — we arrange it based on workplace location and availability.
What will be the accommodation?
Students' shared accommodation, student residence or partner host. Shared accommodation is a shared living space; partner host means residing with a local; student residence contains living quarters for students. Basic amenities are provided in all types. We cannot guarantee relationships with other inhabitants or neighbours — we're happy to share tips for living overseas.
Payment and refund
Is deposit part of program fee or additional?
Deposit is part of the program fee — the outstanding balance equals total minus deposit. Program fee = deposit + remaining balance.
What is the refund policy?
Full refund if Bloom of Youth cannot place you in your Preference Area after the Placement Deadline. Half-deposit refund if you withdraw before placement or before any interview invitation/potential offer. No refund of deposit after using up one or two reject opportunities, or after being placed with a partner. No refund of deposit or remaining program fee if you withdraw after placement and after paying the remaining fee. See our terms and conditions for full detail.
When will payments be due?

Other questions
Do I need a visa?
A visa may be required depending on your destination and passport. See our Visa table on the Pricing page.
Will I get a graduate offer after the internship?
It depends — we cannot guarantee such an offer.
I'm a HKSAR passport holder. Do I apply for Youth Mobility Scheme if I intern in the UK?
Yes, if you're successfully allocated a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) from the Labour Department. Apply before the CoS deadline and meet eligibility, subject to quota (see labour.gov.hk/eng/plan/guidance.htm). Apply to our program earlier to avoid missing the CoS deadline — you may not receive internship confirmation before CoS registration. Without CoS, apply for a Temporary Worker – Government Authorised Exchange visa.
What if I cannot go due to COVID-19?
From 2021 applications onward: if a travel ban or COVID situation makes physical internship infeasible, we offer postponement or switching to a virtual internship. If switched to virtual, the program-fee difference will be returned. Deposit and program-fee refunds otherwise follow terms and conditions.
